Fork Oil change - Night & Day
I've had a tiny leak from the 6mm screw above the axle on my left fork. As the oil has been lost, so has stable handling in even moderate twisties. After several months of "frog in heating water", I put the RKC on the jack and stripped down the front end. Found the o-ring on that screw was damaged so I replaced 'em on both sides, and removed both tubes for inverted oil draining, as removing those screws doesn't get it all.
After reading several fork oil posts here, I opted to skip H-D E-Type fork oil, and went with Spectro 10W. After an extra tear-down of the headlight/nacelle (forgot to install the donut bumpers on the fork tubes!), I put the fender and wheel on, and took her for a shakedown run. The front end has never felt so stable and solid; no more squishy feel. Maybe the heavier oil works better with my chubby butt. If you're on the heavier side, or regularly toting a passenger, you might wanna try the heavier stuff next fork oil change. So far, no more leak, too. FWIW.
