Not a chance.

Maybe another SG, but don't go backwards.
How is getting a softail going backwards?

I'd never pay more for an older bike...Softail, SG or whatever. If I trade, I'll trade for newer, not older.

1. You are trading DOWN
2. You are trading for a OLDER bike
3. Its not my bike, do what you want, lol.... you asked for opinions.
4. Like you said, a bike rides better paid 4.
5. Keep your SG, go find a cheap project NT to tinker with. Win Win.

I can almost guarantee that unless you just do a little local riding and barhopping you will miss that touring frame after a week or so. No matter how purdy that Softy is. I have been on a touring frame since 05. After having to sell my 2013 RG Ultra I considered a smaller bike like a Dyna Fat Bob or a Softy of some kind. All it took is a 50 mile test ride to know I would never be happy with anything but a touring bike. Over my 7 years here I have seen several make a similar move. I's say 80% of them end right back on a touring bike of some kind.

What it comes down to is what will make you happy in the end. Only you can decide that. We can only offer suggestions from experience.

Yeah this sounds like pretty sound advice. I might be in a better spot in a few years to buy another train and fix it up. I do love my Streetglide and I think the O/L has become spoiled riding on the back of it at this point.

OK now to the story. I saw a FB post of my local dealers bike of the week or whatever and almost fell in love. It is a 06 train that is tricked out.

Bike has cams, aftermarket wheels, front fender, lowered, bars etc. I really like it.

I Went and got a quick number on my bike. they offered 12500 trade on my 07 SG and they want roughly 14K for the 06NT which I feel is high. Basically they want my title plus 2200 out the door. What are your thoughts? I was thinking straight trade sounded more realistic LOL...

I am not interested in taking a bath on my bike and wont. Title is in hand and it does ride better like that...

That price is WAY outta line--I looked at an '06 Train last week, mint, with 4K miles & I turned down his price of $11,000 as being too much. That is a 10grand bike at most. Never buy used from a dealer.

If I have to explain it to you, you wouldn't understand.

Go ride a touring bike for a month or two and then ride your softail and you will know. Simple as that.

All it took was one loop around Montgomery and my Softail was history.

Pretty much the same for me too.
One ride on a glide and that was it.

If one had/has a medical condition which would necessitate that one ride a lighter weight bike then so be it, at least you'd be on 2 wheels, but otherwise.... you could always ride a trike or one of them ugly can am's which probably ride better than does a trike, not that I would know.
