Default Stage 1 breather with stock breather cover question!

When I purchased my bike it already had the open stage 1 breather. Now it's getting to the time of year where I'm getting caught in rain storms. My question is can I just bolt a stock breather cover on the stage 1 breather? Those damn rain covers are aggravating to slip on when the motor is hot and it has scratched the crap out of the cover that's there now. Help please?

Yes the stock cover will fit. I have an open air filter and I just run it open in the rain. I did buy a rain sock but never use it.

I bought mine with the stage 1 A/C on it with the original football cover. I recently bought the rain sock kit to give me the open A/C with the rain sock on all the time (my sig pic). I've been caught in storms and haven't had any issues.

I actually think the sock on the filter looks pretty good. But yes, it'll go on no probs.

Yep stock football cover work. I use the HD Smooth round cover now 29153-07. It has protection around filter except opened up at bottom. No issues with rain.

The only thing about using the stock football cover is that it traps a lot of heat off the engine when caught in stop-in-go traffic. You want cold or cool air going in, not hot air. I run open air filter and rode over 350 mile in one day in pouring rain without any probs.
