I'm going to replace the Dzuz clips on my hard bags with bolts and U nuts. The rear receiver for the Dzuz is just a metal clip. The front receiver has a black plastic piece attached to it. What's the plastic piece for???

I've looked at an on-line parts list and don't see any plastic part. What year bike?

 

I think the black plactic piece is just to cover the end of the bracket, maybe supposed to cover any sharp edges. I swapped out the front clips on each side with a U nut and bolt. I left the plactic piece in place and put the U nut over it.
