Post Fuel guage reading?

So I've had a new 2013 electra glide ultra limited now for a few weeks. Have only seen the low fuel light cone on once. This is because my guage reads totally empty when I still have a gallon left and I fill it. Doesn't get to the level to set the light off.

Is this normal or is something messed up with my fuel level sensor? I would expect the guage to read at least 1/8 full when the light comes.

Thanks for any replies.

It's normal. I have never saw an accurate fuel gauge on a Harley. I reset my trip meter each time I fill and rely more on miles driven than the gauge or the low fuel light.

Yeah dont even pay attention to those things.....Get a good idea what your getting for gas mileage then X it by 5 (gallons) and fill the tank when it gets to that #. You should have 1.2 gallons left if you do the math right and have the 6.2 gallon tanks.

Makes me think of that Seinfeld episode where Kramer is pushing his luck with the gas gauge while on a test drive.

Me too ... it's annoying in that it's inaccurate and turns on the low fuel light .. I just go by mileage (trip meter) like I did before 'fuel gauges'

Yep, agreed.
I haven't seen my low fuel light come on yet, but have seen a full tank after 60 miles, or a 1/4 tank drop in 10 miles, or 1/4 to empty from just sitting in the garage overnight. I can get 200 miles on a fillup, no issues. Easy math even without a trip ODO.

Yea mine is currently near empty on gauge, but says I have 110 miles left. Like others have said use your trip meter, I always do it that way.
