Not to sound like i'm drinking the kool aid but I feel like the first service just let them knock it out and if anything happens beyond that you can argue that's **** they should have caught. Also from what I understand it's supposed to be pretty important. The first service that is.
Still hard to believe that many dealers aren't throwing it in on part of a new bike purchase. For years my dealership has done the 1000 mile service on all new bikes sold. That is just part of buying it. I guess some are better then others.

Important to you the bike owner...money for the dealer that's it. If you do bring it to the dealer for service. I would in BRIGHT sunlight take a video of every piece every angle and in the video say the date and time . Sad maybe overkill but... I have many of video's dated and what the condition of the bike is in and what it looked like when I picked it up. You cherish your bike, you care for your bike, you take care of your bike, you spend a lot! of money on your bike...IMO to them it's another bike. Just be wise and " Check yourself before you wreck yourself".
Ounce of prevention goes a long way. when it's your money/bike.
My dealer includes the 1000 mile service with the purchace of the bike.

My dealer throws in the 1,000 AND 5,000 services with the purchase of a new bike. Don't even have to negotiate that, it's automatically part of a new purchase for everyone.
Just had my 13 SG in for the 1000mi. service, they did find that the drive belt was too tight, and adjusted the clutch cable.
I will do the regular fluid changes my self from here out, but I thought for warranty issues it was best to let them do the first one.
It should be included in the price of the bike but I had to pay $289.

If they had checked the bike over prior to you buying it ( I'm sure they charged you set up & prep), they would have found the tight belt. Belts get looser with use, not tighter.....
