Curious when did head pipes get Cats?
My neighbor was asking about what year Cats were put in HD head pipes, his brother in law has a HD 2010 Touring, not sure if that year had them in?
I had my pipes changed at time of purchase, and not sure if I had cats or not. I did not have an answer, and I wondered as well about when the cat thing was implemented and if it was for just a few states such as California or all states.

Yup 2010, did you let the dealership keep the stock header or did they give em to ya? Reason whyI ask is before I bought my scoot and looking at used bikes , the walk around the inside of the service bays was very interesting seeing a good collection of the stock headers collecting on palets.....for sale ofcourse. Take it with you, dont leave none of that stuff behind.

My friends 09 had the cat in the muffler, not the header. I guess it's possible some late model year 09's might have had a cat in the header, but haven't heard of any except maybe in California.
The 2010 model year began the migration of the cat to the mid header perfectly complimented by an equally foolish relocation of the O2 sensors very close to that same location. The O2s were also a smaller, cheaper 12mm sensor.

That way the Dealer doesn't have to stock bikes for CA buyers and bikes for AZ buyers.
When I was shopping used bikes here is PHX in 2010, a large number of the 09's were CA spec.
You could tap on the front header with a pen and hear it...tink, tink, tink, clunk.
o2 sensor position same cat/non-cat on the 2009
The VIN will detail which market/ spec a bike is destined for.
