D&D Baffle Comparison
Bear with me on the long story.
When I bought my new to me 2010 Street Glide last year, it came with the D&D Boss Fat Cat with the perforated (loud) baffle and HD SE heavy breather. Everything else on the bike is stock, no cams, etc. I had the bike dyno'd and it gained a lot of spunk. But the baffle is loud to me even with ear plugs, especially on the longer rides.
In the pursuit to find a quieter D&D baffle, I researched the concentric quiet baffle. D&D says this baffle is only for stock 96" motors. A different dyno guy told me he tuned 3 bikes with the concentric baffle and all owners went back to the perforated baffle because the bikes lost too much power and torque.
I purchased a used D&D concentric baffle and finally threw it on the bike tonight just for comparison. The sound is much quieter. I can now hear the motor and all of it's clicks, ticks and clanks. I'm sure at cruising speed it would be much better sound wise but it may be too quiet otherwise. The bike definitely lost the spunk that it has with the perforated baffle.
I have a perforated wrapped baffle on the way that I purchased from another forum member. I'm hoping it will provide a happy medium between the perforated loud and the concentric.

I have a 2011 Road King 96" with a Fat Cat 2 into 1. The pipe came with the Q baffle, which is to say the wrapped perforated baffle. In my view, it was too loud the day I put it on. I had it dyno tuned with SEPST and the bike made 78HP and almost 90FPTQ. The bike runs very well.
I finally broke down and bought the CCT/Concentric baffle and gave it a try. The loss of power just wasn't acceptable and its in my garage attic.
So the baffle line up is this
CCT/Concentric (has a pipe blocking the center of the baffle)
Wrapped perforated (Quiet baffle)
Perforated. (Same as above with no wrapping around baffle tube)
Louvered (I assume this is for big motors and people who are already deaf)
So, if your perforated baffle is not wrapped then there's one inbetween your perforated and concentric baffles. If your perforated baffle is wrapped, get used to it, take the power loss and use the CCT or find another exhaust. That said, Harley pistons are as big as paint cans, you gotta open up the the intake and exhaust if you want the power.
Yeah, I know, there's 4000 guys who run dynos for a living that get 200 rear wheel horsepower out of stock pipes. Take that with a grain of salt; because with as many guys as there are asking for quiet performance pipes, wouldn't there be something out there if it were true??

This is the breakdown on D&D baffles.
Concentric Wrapped baffles
are for Stock 96" motors only quiet baffle
Louvered Wrapped baffles
are for 96" to 103" motors quiet baffle
Perforated Wrapped baffles
are for 96" to 113" motors medium range sound
Perforated baffles
are for 96" to 113" motors very very loud
I have the Louvered wrapped baffle ie the Quiet baffle. It is not that quiet. I set car alarms off all the time But it has a nice deep tone to it. I've heard the unwrapped baffle is LOUD but has a "tinny" tone to it. I've never heard one in person, that's just what I've heard.

I have the big bore quiet baffle on my 2010 Street Glide stage II 103. Bike makes 92 hp and 106 tq with SE 255 cams. The bike is on it's third season with the pipe and the packing seems long gone. It wasn't all that quiet with the wrapped baffle (Leonard at D&D told me they figured the wrapped baffle was about 10% quieter than the standard baffle). At cruise the bike is marginally loud but I have ridden hundreds of miles in a day and not lost my hearing or my sanity so I am not willing to sacrifice power for quieter pipes.
I also have a VH Pro pipe Hi Output on my dyna with the SE 120R in it. The VH has a deeper tone but barks even louder than the Fatcat when on the throttle.
