Skratch is spot on, firmware only pertains to the device itself. It is simply software that changes the functionality of a device, in this case the Power Vision.
You do need to reflash the power vision firmware and the program software. The canned map database doesn't have to be. Lot of times they do make important changes such as add autotune features and quick tune. Very easy to do with the update client.
All you do is hook the usb cable between the PV and computer. Make sure the power is turned off to PV via bike. Open the update client under the Power vision program group. It will tell you to hook up the PV which is already hooked up. Click ok and if computer is able to get on line it will scan the PV and the Dynajet database to see if everything is upto date. It tells you which Win software version is running and latest version. It will tell you the firmware version and latest version. It will also tell you if the tune database on the PV is upto date. Some of them will be marked update first. Just follow the directions only takes few minutes to do. There is a video on Dynajet's web site on how to do this also. If yours is over a few months old you will have updates.
