My bike just turned three, here are some of my thoughts.
When I purchased my Ultra in July 2010 I had planned on buying a street glide. A friend convinced me to buy an Ultra and just remove what I didn't want. I had never owned a bike with a tour pack so I was really uncertain about it. After two years I pulled the tour pack off and liked the bike much better. It always felt top heavy to me and that feeling went away after removing the tour pack. As you can see I have made some other changes but finally have the bike about where I want it. Another observation in regards to a fairing compared to a windshield. This was my first fairing and I have been riding since 1974. I could go either way on this feature, what I like is only having a 6 inch shield to keep clean compared to a full shield. I think its easier to keep a painted fairing surface clean than it is a full size shield. I do like the lighter weight of a shield but like having built in tunes with the fairing. I discovered running between 80 and 90 the sound system is lousy but nice around town. Overall after 24,000 miles I'm pretty pleased with my Ultra. Looking back now a Street glide was probably the right choice or maybe even a Road King but I'm not unhappy with the Ultra.

I only ran the tour pack when mama was on, bought the quick detach kit when I bought the bike so its on-off in 5 minutes.
As luck would have it I find I run with it on all the time now for it is handy. I am down 54 pounds since cancer set in a year ago, and still can handle it @ a buck 20.
I even threw a spoiler on it and have started "dressing" it up a bit..

Good choice, but you coudnt go wrong with a SG either....It was a SG or a Ultra for me. Decided on the Limited and never looked back. Amazing, how much stuff the tour pack will hold. Now, if my bike was to get a brother to share the garage with, it would be a SG, if it's a Harley. Or a new V-Max

I was about a day away from buying a Ultra...Found a Road King used but not ridden much..Bought it and saved about $8K. I love the king the front feels so much lighter to me without fairing. The radio I thought I needed I never miss. I did put lowers on and flip up shield and fork deflectors and this bike rides like a dream. The tour pack can be added but I have no need at present. The Touring Harley family is hard to beat for making the bike as you want...Can't do that with most other brands... Just wanted to tell my satisfaction with the touring Harley...To be honest to my surprise.
