Front fork air baffle is a great thing for stopping the turbulence behind the fairing, and at 25 bucks is cheap too.

Service manual recommends NO AIR BAFFLE to increase cooling.

Seems to me that it is designed to directMORE air down to the jugs & reduce air up to the rider.
I think the previous comment was correct, HD took them off so people would buy them as extra chrome.
Not too many riders werereally taking the stock black ones off and replacing w/ chrome anyway.
Company solution?..........take it off as a stock part, make 'em buy it.

If there was a temperature limitation (50 deg) then HD would protect itself and ensure itwas stated in the installation instructions(it doesn't)
like w/ the faring lowers or the vinyl chaps for the engine guard.

I ride a 04 roadking custom with dragonfly fairing. I put on an air baffel and didn't notice any change. I left it on anyways.

The only reason they quit putting it on was to save even more $$ on assembly, then sell it to ya as accessory & make some more $$

And it's still standard equipment on some models, so the only thing it does when its off is cool the rider down by buffeting his face.
