Default Anyone have an HD handlebar-mount thermometer?

Now that I've removed the air-temp gauge on my fairing in favor of an oil-temp gauge, I find that I would like to know the air temp, but accurately. I'm looking at one of the HD gauges that bolt to the brake or clutch housing, but I wonder if they will be just as inaccurate as the one I removed. It will be sitting out in the sun, thus supposedly giving inaccurate readings like the fairing gauge did.

I also see some stick-on gauges on Ebay that could be mounted on the fairing surface, e.g. above and between the speedo and tach, and that might make more sense in regard to position. Anyone mount either one of these and have any advise?

I put the HD one you are refering to on my 05 Electra Glide Classic. It is very accurate. With my fairing mounted air temp gage it was allways 86 degrees.

I have the "formotion" brand air temp and clock mounted to the screws on the switches. Used them on my previous bike and still seem to work good. The clock is kinda redundant since there is a clock in the radio, but the two gauges "balance out" the look on the handlebars and its sometimes nice to see the time when the bike is not running (I seldom wear a watch).

As for how accurate, I guess as good as any air temp gauge sitting in the sun is going to be higher than if mounted in the shade ???? The quality fit and finish seems good and no rust so far....

Have the H-D outside air temp gauge on the left hand controls. I think its very accurate. And it does have a great finish to it.

Which of the two is easier to see? The black faced one or the silver faced one? I've wanted to get the air temp gauge, but debate on blk v silver...!

My preference for best visual in bright sun light and to see at night was black backing.

I just put the HD one on. It looks good under the clutch side switches and works good in my shop.
I put on black face so it would match the rest of the guages on the bike.

Okay, that's good enough for me. I'm going to get one, silver faced to match the bike's other gauges. Thanks for the feedback!
