I never have wrenched on a Harley in my life but did my on stage 1 with no problems. Decide what A/C and exhaust you like and get a Power Vision from Fuel Moto, forget the dealer.

There's some real sense in just leaving the damn thing alone and riding it. If you decide you just have to start messing with it, you need to make an honest assessment of your wrenching skills. Are you comfortable taking tools to your brand new expensive bike? If not, don't.

I did a stage 1 myself and had the dealer tune it with a SERT. I'm glad I did it but probably wouldn't do it again.

If you have a minimal amount of skill do it your self, call Fuel Moto for suggestions and with basic tools and a couple hr you can change pipes, AC and flash the ECM with a Power Vision .

The ECM part takes less than 5 min . Later using the data logging if you want you can easily learn to self tune and you will gain a lot more than from a dealer download and save $

I installed the a/c and slip-ons myself, and had the dealer do the Stage 1 download. I also threw on a set of XIEDs. I'm a happy camper.

FWIW, I just completed my own stage one with true duals, my CFR's, screamin eagle heavy breather, and a PCV from fuel moto... I had no prior experience wrenching on a Harley, and I got through it fine. It runs amazing!
