Default Which oil to use for lubricating throttle and clutch cables?

looking for some advice regarding to the lubrication of my 07SG cables. Some say you need PTFE spray, other use transmission oil....
The service manual gives a PN of oil, but doesn't describe which type of oil to use. I'm not able to buy the 'specific' harley oil as described in the service manual.
Can anyone state which kind of lubricant is required?

many thanks!!

I've used Motion Pro cable lube in a spray can, and one of those clamp on thingies, with very good results for several years now.

But, I have heard of some cables having internal sheathing that is incompatable with lubes. Haven't run into it myself...yet.

I use 'inox' it's available at most dealers. No black mess like the drislide. I've never experienced it myself, but I've heard that the drislide has been known to get sticky after a while. Inox is a nice clear oil with a needle already attached.

Although this goes against conventional wisdom, check your owner's manual and service manual. I bet you will find no place where it tells you to lubricate the clutch cable. Throttle cables yes, and in fact detailed instructions are in the service manual.

I, too, was told, that some lubricants can affect the interior of the clutch cable housing.

I thought the same thing until I read the maintenance schedule and what should be done in the service manual. Plus my clutch lever was not disengaging smoothly and hanging up. I used some silicone spray and it's working fine now.

I use the same lube I use in the trans, gear oil, I got a large syringe ,and put the gear lube in it, works very well.
You can go to a store that sells fishing equipment and get a reel oiler , and use that to put the gear lube in.
