Dunlop Wear Indicators....
....are just starting to show on rear stock Dunlop. I am scheduled to leave on a 1000 mile round trip Thursday. Not sure my indy can get to it Tuesday/Wednesday and he is closed Monday. If he can't, I'm thinking the tire has another 1K in it but I'm usually not a risk taker with safety stuff. What y'all think? Pictures in post below...

Just another opinion for what it's worth... Those tires look good for at least another few thousand. And as for wearing faster near the end of the tire life - that is simply not true. The wear rate actually slows as the tire wears because the contact patch gets bigger. If you don't believe that, measure your tire when new. I'll bet the farm that the first .100 of wear will occur in fewer miles than the next .100 assuming similar riding conditions.
I'd take your 1,000 mile trip without a second thought. The only caveat is that wet traction can be compromised with the shallower tread depth if there is enough water on the road.

Get a tread depth gage. Cheap and you'll know for sure. From the pictures I would say you have 2-3/32nds left. The wear bar is 1/32nd which is the replacement depth according to the service manual. I wouldn't be too concerned with that much tread since it has about 2-4K useful life if my tread depth guess is correct.
