Besides the tread wear you have cupping of the tread. I still would do a 1k trip on it.

+1 ... completely agree. I just did a 1800 mile trip under your same conditions from Leesburg FL to the Smoky Mountains last September. Just be careful under wet conditions. I had those too. The HD Air Pressure Gauge has a tread depth gauge as well. Have fun on your trip.

Here's a post of my tire after my trip before I left for Afghanistan. You'll notice the rear tire is about 1/32 and ready for changing. When I left it was at 2/32 at it's most worn point. When checking your tread depth, be sure to take multiple reading around your whole tire as some points will be less than others.

Twice I've personally found that if you're on the road far from home, a shop will put you at the front of the line for a tire if you just show up and tell them you're on the road. Maybe that was just good luck but the shops I've worked in always did that too. Now that I'm not 25 and indestructible, I don't ride on tires that are at the wear bars.

I'd take the trip. Looks like enough meat on it for 1k mi. I'd slow down in rain though

Here's your chance to impress folks:
Haul your bike in a trailor to about 5 miles from your destination.
Arrive on your bike with it rippin' and snortin'.
Point the tire out to everybody to prove you have *****.
Reverse the procedure to get home with no worries and head up high.
Get you a new tire first chance you get!
...Or I would just ride the thing...

Sure you will be fine unless something comes up like: rain ,panic stop, loose gravel, sand, an animal running across the road........dont do it! what we do is dangerous enough just my opinion

Thank for all the replies and sorry I did not post the pictures at the beginning.
Replace it ! and your front as well . Thats the milestone for a rear tire I change mine at 13000 miles front and rear all the time .It may ride just fine but what you dont realize is the things that go away gradually like handeling and fast stopping and when you need it .
