I just don't understand why it can't be an analog gauge - they are always "on" and have a much lower failure rate. Oh yeah, and they're less expensive.
It's a real pain to have to lean over or get off the bike completely just to be able to push the button and see the temp. I don't know about others, but I really only care about the temp when in traffic or during lots of highway riding and you certainly can't push a button at those times.

dash gauge
i had the push-button oil temp thingie (it was on bike when i bought it) and thought it was WAY overpriced (can't believe people will pay so much for it) and WAY to hard to read the display and WAY too inconvenient (can only read the display when stopped and off the bike).
bought the dash gauge with sender in the oil pan and find great comfort knowing what the oil temp is as i ride around. $109....worth every penny !

The new oil dip stick works well and it's boon on the bike for about a year. It gives you Oil Temp (blinks if still cool), Oil level (bike on kickstand) in 4 "8 ounce" increments. Lets you know if your oil level is too high or if you over filled it. Yeah I have the old one on my RoadKing and this one works well. Granted you have to push the button, so I'll check it at stops. Totally agree with the post above that its over price, so buy it online @ 20% off and free shipping.
