Tranny shaft seal leaking down the back of the primary...
Has been for awhile actually, but hasn't been irritating enough for me to mess with fixing it. So i noticed a few days ago it's gotten to a point that there's oil on my belt guard so i figured well, not supposed to oil the belt i guess, so i better go ahead and replace that stupid seal. and also i have a decent shop, and i was tired of the oil spots on my floor anyway. So i go to the dealer to get the stuff i need. The tranny shaft seal, the one giving me grief, was $3.09. But of course since i was gonna have it apart i gotta replace all the seals and gaskets and stuff... it'd be stupid not to.
So, by the time i buy all the crap i need, o ring, seals for tranny shaft and starter shaft, the 3 primary cover gaskets, lock tabs, bearing race for the tranny seal and whatever else i'm forgetting, i got damn near a hundred bucks in it. So, what it comes down to is it cost me about a hundred bucks and 10 hours of (admittedly not steady) work because a stupid damn 3.09 seal decided to start leaking. I'd imagine the folks that don't like to do their own wrenching would have quite a lot more than that into it money wise... although it could be argued that 10 hours of my time is worth quite a lot... Just sayin...3 bucks for the damn seal. jeez.

Guess that's why you've been putting it off...
Part of being a mechanic. I was once told, "To be a mechanic, you have to accept three things...
1. You have to become a contortionist
2. You have to be smart enough to understand mechanical applications
3. You have to be dumb enough to keep doing it over, and over, and over...
