Default sG Rear Turn Signal Question

I'm looking @ changing the rear turn signal bulbs in my '09 SG. I keep reading they are 1156's because they are only turn signals. Mine are running, turns & brake. I do have the large center brake as well. Did the PO change something that I'm not aware of? How can a 1156 be all 3? There's a part number on the bulb but it's like no other bulb # @ the auto parts store.

How many contacts does it have on the bottom? If it's 2, 1157 or 2057 will work.

If it has only one contact, it cannot be run, turn and brake. And that is a 1056/1156

Sounds like the PO installed a run/turn/brake module. Your bulbs woukd be single element.

Sounds useless to me. 1 contact means 1 filament, which means no difference in intensity?

I just checked again. It had 1 contact BUT it is a running lamp, then it gets brighter when I apply the brake and it gets brighter when I turn the turn signal on. How's this possible?????? I'm lost.

You must be right. I told my wife I must be going crazy. She said 'who cares!' Ha!!! Do you know where on the bike it would be located so I can figure out which one it is?

Look for module under your seat plugged into rear fender harness. Looks like this.

Thanks. I found it. Does this do anything for 'load equalizing' so I can add LED turns?
