Well yes, I guess they are the same.

Do you also consider the RG the same?

Beary
Yeah, they are almost identical twins, no?

I think even the Roadking has more in common with the Electra Glide than does the SG. Not much difference in them but the fairing.

From a rider's perspective, the only differences are the gauges and mirrors. Seats and shocks are so frequently changed by owners of both models that they hardly bear mentioning.

There is less difference between the RG vs EG than the SG vs EG, it's just a fairing. I wouldn't know about handling, I only ride 1% of the time. But I look good doing it.

sort of; if you wanted to make your streetglide COMPLETELY into an EG, then THAT would be the most expensive solution, so again; depends what you want.

Beary
Nope. If I wanted a SG, I would have bought one.

...that doesn't mean I don't like them, after all they are the SAME basic bike as mine.

Well at least a couple of people get it; MINOR differences many of which people routinely change ANYWAY (seats, footboards, windshields, etc. etc.).

WOW, thanks for all the replies. I really want a tour pac and like the fact of a 2 year warranty and its new. I like the driving lites. The Street Glide is cool except I dislike the fairing mirrors and am not to keen on the rear lighting. But like the clean fenders and taller front tire. The white gauges are harder to see sometimes I think Same engine and frame. With 5K I could buy a tour pac and a painted inner fairing and still do a 107 kit on it. Both bikes are going to need pipes on them. I'm so confused. I'm no bar hopper and gonna ride it to eat up some miles. But do ride around town most of the time.

I had a tough time deciding between almost the same bikes. I was always drawn to the street glide, but kept thinking the ultra limited was what I should buy as I knew I wanted a tourpak and lowers, even considered the road glide ultra for a bit. In the end for me it was the paint choices and cleaner look of the street glide that won me over. An ultra limited woulda been a great bike for me but I didn't want the hassle and/or cost of removing/replacing all the stuff I didn't want on there. For me it was easier to just add a taller windshield, tourpak and lowers to the bike I liked. Plus the big thing for me was paint, for the cost of a new bike I should like the color, not interested in painting a brand new bike.

In the end it's your decision and I think either bike will serve you well, but as another user already said, buy the one that makes you grin longer. And ride it. A lot.

Good luck with the decision.
