Just start taking off all the extra stuff that they put on these bikes.

You can weigh each thing that you take of or replace with a lighter unit. I put my Ultras on a diet (1995 and 2003) probably lost 60 lbs each and have removed :-

Front and rear "bumpers"
Stock pipes repalced with a Thunderheader 2-1
Lowers
Saddlebag wrap around protectors, install the kit
Replace saddlebag pins with bolt
Heel Shifter
Chrome doo dads, light caps
Chrome engine trim
Front Crash Bar, that's heavy right there
1995 Ultra, removed radio and CB and wires then installed new radio with hidden antenna
Empty the saddlebags and tourpack
7" smoked windscreen

I have not done the tourpack and solo seat as wife rides with and like the backrest, also speakers are in the rear pods.

Lose 20+ pounds by replacing your battery with a lithium ion.

To lighten things up and get rid of some of the geezer, I added a QD tourpak, changed my big lolly pop rear turns to bullets, added fillers to the rear between the bags and fender, Have a slim line road glide seat, removed the front fender rails, and removed my rear hoop.

When I removed my rear rails and covered the holes with leather:

All cheap mods except the QD kit. You can just unbolt the tourpak, and leave it off to save some cash.

hadn't really thought of this in terms of a weight reduction program for an old hog but it is such. Of course this ole fat-*** could stand to lose 25-30 pounds too.
Wife likes getting rid of the rails around the saddlebags. Apparently they rub her legs. So looking to find those. Will likely put the old ones back on when I go take a class called ride like a pro in Houston. I hear scraping those guards is not uncommon.
Had not thought of the trim around the fenders. Some things will stay. Won't give up the engine guard and I don't have any chrome extras on my engine that I am aware of. Will likely leave on the passenger grab rails (need something to grab if the bike ever lays on its side - in that event my saddlebags are shot if I don't have the protective rails).
The item below uses your existing rails but allows you to remove the guards. Pretty slick.

I found this Metra powered antenna a couple years ago and it works great.
Paid about $20 at an auto parts store.

The detach kit comes with an antenna relocation kit. I use it as well with a stubby that is low enough for the tour pak. You would need a Y adaptor at the radio for both antennas.
You will love the handling with the TP off. Like a new bike with the extra 30+
pounds gone.

Heck the radio gets used next to none. use the intercom. Don't use the CD, my ipod doesn't generate enough sound to work with the plug in on the radio, so little music comes through my speakers.
But you plug in your radio to two antennae - the one you listed that I am guessing you put in the fairing and the relocated antennae at the back?

Yes. Before I added the hidden antenna I had mounted the relocation kit.
This way should I put the TP back on the option was there to use the antenna on the TP.
BTW my TP has not been back on for over 2 years.

haha! I traded my (ex) wife for my girlfriend but I figure it cost me about $50,000 per pound! ....turns out it wasn't cost effective as a bike weight reduction issue!
