Drain Plug Question

When a Harley is shut down, the oil level in the cam chest should never be much above the two hanging down bosses on the oil pump. One of the bosses has a passage directly behind it going into the flywheel cavity (crankcase area). Oil level in there is about inch and a 1/2 or so, and the crank spins in it. (not total dry sump but still correctly named) In the cam galley there is about 6 ounces and probably double that in crankcase. About 1/2 qt total. That galley plug is tapered pipe and requires liquid sealer and you need to be extremely carefully about not tighten it too tight or it will crack the block. Someone just did it on here not too long ago trying to get that last few ounces of dirty oil out. Even if you drain it, you are still leaving the 12 ounces around the flywheel. Harly keeps this secret like Coke keeps their formula secret. You would be money ahead to leave that plug alone. My picture is from a TCb. Not sure why squeeze's crankcase cavity is different, but it does have TC oil injectors? Remember, that lower part of the transmission is actually a separate oil tank for the engine and is not part of the transmission or engine on the Dynas and Tour cruisers and it also can not just run into the engine. Oil is pulled from and returned to it by the twin rotor oil pump with the return side bigger then the pressure side. Softails have their tank below the seat above the transmission.
