Default Street Glide Rear Saddle Bag Guards?

What do you think about the Gloss Black Rear Saddle Bag Guards on a Black Pearl SG? Has anyone done this? Got pics? Or should I just go with chrome? Any help would be appreciated.

Either way they should match up with the engine guard![sm=signs007.gif]

I agree with BH in that it seems like you would want to match up the engine guard with the saddlebag guards. But I haven't really seen the utility of the saddlebag guards and I think they clutter up the lines of the bike. I'm not sure that they provide any real protection in the event of a tipover - it looks like the back of the bags would sustain a lot of damage in any kind of fall.

Go with Black Pearl on the engine crash guard and the bag guards. I think that would look superbbeing color matched.

I became attached to saddlebag guard bags with my old RK, and also wanted the protection the guards provide. Yes, they do protect the bags on a tipover, as has been reported by some on this forum, but I haven't tested this first-hand. When I changed them out I took a photo before and after, and I don't think the guards clutter the looks, but that that is truly a subjective opinion. Actually, I like the looks better with the guards.

I also agree with all of you that the guards should match.

trust me they work---ask me how I know --- --I dropped the bikebefore I put the guards on which resulted in scratched bag and various nicks (I wasn't paying attention), after I put the rear crash bars on I was riding to work thoughtI was going to get hit by a car---put brakes on quickly (too much front brake), had a little skid bike went down---rested perfectly on the front and rear crash bars; no damage not a nick.

I agree with everyone else the guards should match.

My opinion is that the rear guards should be painted to match and then leave the front one chrome. Especially the factory SG supports since they aren't even really seen.

I actually plan on taking my engine guard off. Don't like the looks.

I lay it down on the bars every once in a while when I'm practing slow maneuvers.... that's what they're there for.

Work great, and I like mine chrome, it just matches.
