Default 2010 SG - Progressive 944 wont work with lowering kit

Hey folks,

Just finished installing a set of Progressive 944 shocks on my 2010 SG - WOW what an amazing ride compared to that stock junk HD puts out - Problem is...I had to remove my lowering kit because the bottom bell on the 944 makes contact with the lowering device and the holes wont line up - As mentioned the ride is night and day. I simply cannot go back to tippy toe riding again.

Anyone know of a good comparable shock that will work with the lowering kit? At this point I really don't care about cost, I want a comfortable ride with both feet on the ground - Thanks

PS - I already have the reach seat on the bike.

Get rid of the lowering kit and buy the correct length shock for your needs.

The 944 are a 444 shock that is 13" and designed to have an initial 1" of sag so they sit with the bike at 12" like a stock SG or RGC but have the overall and up travel of a 13" shock.

If you want to be a little lower than your stock 12" SG shocks go with a set of 11 or 11.5 444 and you will have the same basic shock as the 944 if you like the ride, but you will loose a little overall travel

I spoke with Progressive to see if they had a 12" eye to eye shock, the "tech" told me to go to their sister company burly brand and go with the slammer, but did not recommend it because it will bottom out with the tour pack on loaded with a passenger. I would have thought Progressive would have offered up the 444.

Just saying that if you had used the search feature on the forum, there are many posts about that same issue that would have saved you time & money.....BUT, I did ask a similar question months back about the LA Lowering Kit and aftermarket shocks and was given bad advice which cost me time & money.....Why did I post this????????????

If you haven't did it already lower the front 1 to 1.5 inches this will get your feet planted more than the lowering blocks I couldn't believe the difference it made.
