The motor has been run at the factory, rings will seat quickly with conventional oil, heat and pressure. Keep the revs up above 2500 as much as possible and stay out of 6th gear for the first 500 miles as previously suggested. The vtwin motor likes to spin, keep do not be afraid to keep the revs up.

 

I use non synthetic oil up to at least 3000 miles. It breaks in better and it certainly won't hurt it. I changed my oil at 30, 500, 1000, and 3000. I switched to synthetic at 3000 miles.
