I have my reasons. Can't speak for anybody else. There is a wealth of knowledge there.

FYI after reading this thread I just happened to have an extra $5 (yea right) in my pocket and stopped by walmart. Even with stock speakers there is a noticable difference. Highs are definitely more clear and it even sounds like there is some bass in there somewhere. I am pleased with the 30 minute cheap job.

Did mine as well after reading this thread on J&M speakers....noticeable difference. Not the be all or end all of sound quality...but made a nice improvement.

Vivid, Thanks for adding that photo. It worked pretty good for me to. I had it out of the garage today jamming it for the first time since the install.

I am envious to see so much space in the fairing. I have forgotten what that's like. Mine has 2 amps, 4 crossovers and a power antenna all (neatly) stuffed in there.

I swear I had to use a 1 inch putty knife and the old lady's kitchen tongs to get the stuff wrapped tight around the speakers.

I told my wife, who was hanging out during the install, if I add anything else to the electronics I will need to start removing gauges to make room.

She was like.... Really you're going to take out the speedometer???? Umm SURE they're overrated, and I don't look at it anyhow.

After doing this mod, which I did not hear much of a difference, I blew both speakers.
Running the stock HK with a RF punch 300x2 amp and the Polk MM651's.
Ran em for a year w/ no issues then coming back from Sturgis through Nevada on a hot day they crapped out.
There is a thread specifically for melting 651's in the audio section also.
The poly fill in IMHO definitely adds heat retention and added to melting them.
Just an FYI for ya'll. Anyone else have similar issues with speaks after the polyfill mod?
