Welcome back aboard for another 4 years, Hoorah! There is a thread out there where someone make his king a batking with pics of the install, that will help you along if you need it. I know the rear wheel will be covered up but deep down inside it will be bugging you to death knowing its not a matching set,lol. Good luck with your project maybe we will pass each other on I-95 one day, I'm stationed 3 hours from you at Stewart. Good luck man.

 

4 more years and I got a free pen and coffee mug lol. Oh well the job security is worth it and deployments are always worth the cash. I may have to look up that thread and check it out.

Honestly I can barely see the tire and never look at the rear. My dad did the same thing with his Street Glide and I've never once noticed that it was a different wheel. I think it will ride pretty well with the suspension and seat combo. Maybe 1/2" higher overall but I'll be sitting down an inch and half from the seat so I'll be closer to the ground but will have more clearance.

I love getting new vehicle parts it's like Christmas lol.

 

Gotta love it when the big brown truck pulls in the driveway, hehe. I know what you mean.

 

Got some new parts in today.





Wiring diagram was a little off (had the drawings correct but labeled the pump and switch backwards) but everything I need is here. Think I may solder the connections on. Checked the 3 position switch and all connections are good there. Just jumps either the pump or valve to ground when I press the switch up or down and raises or lowers the bike. Nice easy way of doing it. Switch looks pretty nice as well. Matches the bikes hand controls and the wiring is covered up nicely.

If all goes well I'll have my seat and shocks installed this weekend. Hopefully this tropical storm misses us and brings back good riding weather.

The front wheel also has been shipped. Hopefully it will be here by the middle of next week so I can get a tire put on and install it with progressive shocks. I did laugh a little since I still have drop in lowering springs for my old Suzuki Intruder. Never could get it to sell. Exact same packaging and everything.

Well looks like tomorrow the new seat and air ride is going on. BTW a big shoutout to geosal22 for the great deal on the seat. Original box and everything was a nice surprise. Looks great!

 

Alright well I finally got the air ride installed. Think it worked out pretty well and everything is routed nicely. Ended up putting the pump in the side bag since I didn't have room on the frame. Since I installed it in the bag I put spade connectors on the pump and switches so I can take off the electrical tape and remove it all. Used a male connector on the pump and a female on the switch so I couldn't screw it up when it went back together. I wish I had time to take better pictures and videos but it was getting dark and it started to rain so I had to wrap it up.

Measure twice and cut once... or in my case... measure about 10 times and drill once.




All the way up. I can sit flat footed still with my new seat. I think it will be great with the new front wheel.





All the way down. Can barely see the rear wheel from this angle. Standing up I wouldn't even notice it.




Oh and here's a surprise. Fuel pak I never knew I had.

i have the same set-up on my streetglide with the air ride but i run a lowering kit on it aswell.. it rides nicer than the to stock set-up thats for sure..i mounted the compressor on the inside of my right hand side pannel..

 

That is one of the best part of these bikes is the constant projects that they provide!

If the rear wheel bothers you, you can go the cheap way and powdercoat a fatboy wheel like I did.
