Anyone know the difference between the pre 2006 rear shock fitment and the post 2006 shocks.

I have a 1997 and been looking around for lowering shocks and the progressive site has different part numbers for these year seperations but some companys say there shocks fit 97-2012.

any differnce that would prevent the shocks from fitting all these years?
