Should not make that much of a diff. The lower fairings direct air onto the motor, vents opened or closed. I agree with the OP.

I found the same thing while riding in the deep south during summers.

Others would remove their lowers and complain that it was still too hot. Like you, I think the lowers helps concentrate the airflow instead of just letting is swirl around the motor and rider.

FWIW, I added the floorboard extenders getting my feet and legs further away from the motor...seems to help the hot air flow past, down the saddlebags, and out.

And the Fullsac and tune may have helped too.

Hey Mike, I have another little experiment for you to try. I found this out simply by chance while riding through the desert on one of my trips. Keeping the batwing vents closed will provide for a more comfortable ride when it's really warm by directing more unheated airflow across your legs and thighs instead of across your torso as occurs with the vents open.

I discovered this completely by chance when I started to correlate the fact that my legs were always cooking moreso when I had the vents open. Close them and my legs would cool off. Now my batwing vents are always closed.

When you say Batwing Vents are you talking about the lower fairing vents? I don't know what Batwing Vents are?

Thanks

The only thing I found makes a difference with heat on my leg is positioning my highway pegs so the bottom of my thigh is in the wind rather than soaking up engine heat.
