Default Road Glide history question

Last September, while in Oklahoma, I saw a Road Glide at a Rest Stop. It was an anniversary model of some sort. It had a single headlight, and some slight rust. Since my instructors had warned me about the guys who hang out in Rest Stops, I didn't stick around- I mean stay to see who was on the bike.

Since then, I've been wondering about that bike- like when it was made, etc. Also, when did the Road Glide first come out- er, first get produced. Did they always have two headlights ? That bike I saw wasn't a 2003, was it ?

( edit: I guess I shouldn't have said it was a Road Glide- I just figured it was because of the fairing. )

I think the FLT model came out in 1979 and yes they have 2 headlights, What you probably saw was a FXRT that model had a fix faring with 1 headlight and came out in 1983 I think.

The first year for the Road Glide was 1998. It's predecessor was the Tour Glide.

That looks about right. I don't know why I thought it was an anniversary model- it must have had an emblem of some sort. When ( how long ) were the FXRTs made ?

I was alone. I wasn't lonely. I just had to drain the monster.

So was the FXRT the Tour Glide ?
