Default Is 4oz to balance new rear tire too much?

I was in a hurry when I picked up my new Agitators yesterday at the dealership. When I got home I noticed the rear tire had 16, yes 16 wheel weights on it.

I called back and was told that 4oz was fine that they see that from time to time.

I recently had an episode where I had a tire that took 3.75 oz to balance and it shook until they finally replaced it. The replacement tire only took 1 oz to balance. I'm concerned I may have the same issue with this tire.

I think i am going back Tuesday and see if I can get them to replace the tire, I think 4oz is a little excessice for a $250 tire.

Am I overconcerned, or is 4oz too much, What would you do?

Yes I think that is way too much. Is the "lightest point" dot (sometimes red) at the valve?
My new rear tyre has just over 2 oz and I think that is a little much.

The yellow dot on the tire is lined up with the valve stem.

I'm thinking this is another bad tire.

My dad had a service station 26 years, and said any tire taking more than 2oz is a bad tire. And that's on Car tires. My front tire on my EGC has no weights, and rides smooth as silk. My rear is a 205-55-16 CT and only has 1/2oz of weight. 4oz is way too much, I would demand a new tire.

Just an update on the tire.

This morning I voiced my concerns with the dealer and replacing the tire was not a problem.

They replaced the tire and the replacement only took 2oz to balance. Plus they got right on it and replaced it while I waited.

Great folks to deal with.
