Popped down a deposit on a 96' Road King after a 19 year absence from riding. I take possession of the bike next week from the dealership and I'm happy with the purchase.

I wondering however, does it have cruise control? I'm hoping it does but this won't be a deal killer for me. Just curious.

 

probably not.

there will be a thumb wheel at the throttle grip to set the throttle open.

not too tight, you wanna be able to grab and close it!

Unless it has been added, NO. The 1996 did not come from the factory with cruise. You can add cruise if you can find one. I don't think HD offers parts for cruise on a 1996 anymore.

Harley did not equip, nor supply an accessory Cruise Control for the 1996 Road King (FLHR). Harley did supply an accessory Cruise Control kit for the Tour Glide and Electra Glide models. Ultra models already came equipped with Cruise Control from the factory.

There is a company that has a web site that claims to have instructions and kit to install a Factory Cruise Control kit on the Softail and Road King models. They are called Cruisemount LLC. Trouble is they use the original Factory Cruise Control kit. And they are long obsolete.
Good luck finding one.
