So which is it?
You're concerned about how it looks or you don't care what others think? Sounds like you have Cognitive Selective Indifference Syndrome. I'm thinkin' therapy.
I tried using the heel-toe shifter for a while, even lowering them as far as possible. Still had to almost raise my whole leg up to get my heel over the peg. Also didn't like not having full range of motion.
Tried just the toe, but in order for my boot toe to fit under it I had to raise the peg to an uncomfortable position.
So I tried putting them both forward. After tweaking the position a little, I find this the easiest. Just have to slide my foot forward and move my toe up and down. Works best with the upper shifter to the outside.
But it does look funny.

My statement "it looks funny" could be taken as a simple acknowledgment that some might take exception to my approach in an attempt to deflect some of the inevitable criticism that happens whenever someone dares to diverge from accepted biker protocols. Or it could just mean that it looks funny to me, which is probably closer to the truth.
Neither of these interpretations would imply any great concern over the opinions of others, so I see no contradiction.
Besides, therapy didn't help.
