Default FLHTCU saddlebag lock issue

Have a 2009 FLHTCU. Key works everything except the one saddlebag on right side. Bought the bike used at a H.D.Dealer. Didn't notice it until a while later. Wondering if there's anything I can do to the lock or if it's a dealer fix only?

probably dealer.

but if you have an old time locksmith shop, stop in and ask them.

A local locksmith had keys on his pegboard for my Panhead Royalite saddlebags...50 years later...

The dealer or go to McMaster Carr or Graingers and you can buy a new barrel lock for it. Those locks are pretty common.

My guess is, there is nothing wrong with your key. It is the lock. Ya can order new locks keyed to your vin from the dealer. Not a lot of cash and easy to swap them out.

Unless you want multiple keys,..........you have to take your title to the HD dealer , to prove ownership,......and they will order you the correct, key matching lock. Not real cheap.

U might try saturating the inside of the lock with WD40 and giving it a try.

Rather than WD 40 try powdered graphite. Just take the saddlebag off ant dust some in there.

Default Easy Fix

Same thing happened with my 03 RK. Removed the lock on the bag and found the "hook" that would go into the slot to lock the bag was reversed. Simply unscrew the tab, flip it around and "walla!" works like a champ. Apparenlty, the installer assembled the locks in the same direction.

mechanical problem or the previous owner replaced lock, and was using 2 keys. ask the dealer if he has any extra keys laying around, the one you need might be there
