Keep the current bike and buy ME a NEW ONE. This way you are twice as happy...keeping something you love, and still getting to buy a new bike. Think of it as an investment in our future friendship!

is that enough to blow $30K or whatever the dealer gets for an Ultra?

No Mike, It's not. My bike runs like a top right now. You're right. There's really not enough of a difference between them to demand the price.

Well...Lets see..PROS: you love it, pristine condition, stage one, pevious owner mechanic (well loved bike).no problems....CONS: new bike payments or loss of a nice chunk-of-change...insurance maybe higher..maybe a monday or friday bike (problems)...lousy stealer service..maybe have to upgrade to run like your bike now..and worse of all...that little voice in the back of your mind that says..Damn, I should've kept old bike....enough said....

Yeah, I think so. The only thing that worries me is having 80,000Km on the bike. What would I have to do to the engine in order to get another 80,000km out of it? I haven't personally seen Harley with many more miles than mine.

On my 3 rd Harley in 10 years.Spent lots to get them where I wanted then had to get new. I ve learned to enjoy what I have. Your right there's not much difference any way. If you like what you have then keep it,and save your money.

...I say, it depends on the size of the inheritance!..if you guys are getting..oh...say, $50,000-$75,000...somewhere along those lines...then for sure..KEEP it..but if you are getting say...3MIL...or something crazy like that...then buy whatever the hell you want!...(me personally, I think HD has priced these things through the roof for what they are...$22,000+ for a bike is nuts..until they come out with something earth-shattering, like a 120hp-120TQ water cooled touring monster, I'm keeping my 05).

Yeah, we're getting around 600K. After we pay off our house we still have about 200K. That being said, I agree that until they come out with "a 120hp-120TQ water cooled touring monster" I'll be keeping mine as well. Also, a new touring up here is 30K+. So yeah, it's a lot of $$.

Thanks for all the comments guys. It really made me feel better about not buying a new one just to have a new one.

Please, keep the comments coming either way. I have an open mind and love to hear what you guys think.

Hang on to your current ride and if it self -destructs (not likely) , then buy a new one. Also something to be said for having the money in the bank and knowing that if you ever fall in love on the showroom floor, you can buy it on sight !
