I have a 2006 RKC. did the cam plate and pump upgrade along with a mile cam change(as long as we were in there) my inner shoe was a good 50% worn. I have used Mobil 1 v twin since new and had around 15K on the odometer at the time of the change
There is a huge difference between inspecting the tensioners and replacing them both time wise and money wise. Anyone who has replaced them knows there is no “while you are in there” scenario, you are just scratching the surface of this repair when you take off the cover.
Same for the cost.
This bike has thirty k, and it is good for at least another twenty, in all honesty that is the lifetime for most Harleys.
If it’s not broke don’t fix it.
Well the cover is already back on it so I wont be changing anything at this time. I like the idea of riding it another 10-20k miles if I even keep it that long as I only really ride about 3-4k a season here in MN. Thanks guys for the input.

That is wise. Everyone with a pre 07 should do an inspection at 25-30. Thanks for showing how easy it is.
Yeah, I'd change them now while you're in there. You've got the **** out of job getting to the point of inspection. If you do, on reassembly ensure that you have the timing marks aligned.

When you have the cover off you are not "in there" you are just looking at it. To get "in there" is a major job.
This is like saying while you have the spark plugs out put in new piston rings.
Op did the right thing.
