What are symptoms of excessive primary oil
Today I did a primary oil change on my 2012 FLHX. before I drained the primary I looked at the oil level and I could see the oil just barely touching the silver ring around the clutch basket with the bike upright. After draining the oil hot and leaving the bike sitting upright for a couple hours I refilled the primary with the recommended amount (38 oz) of Formula +. I then checked the level of the oil with the bike upright and I can see the oil is above the silver clutch basket ring (higher than before) and the oil is covering about a 1/2 " of the clutch spring.
Now i notice that acceleration in first gear to not be as smooth kind of like the clutch is grabbing and I can slightly smell Formula + when stopping after I rode for about and hour.
Any idea or suggestions ?
Should I lower the amount of the primary oil to the previous level?

Here. I would put it to correct level. Once the primary was wet, amount as a measurement is out the window. By the way, from the level I show in the attachment, with the bike level, it takes 1 more quart to make oil just starts to come out of the derby opening. Son and I were doing mine, and it got the extra one while I got the drinks. If by chance someone does that, on a cold start up and going into first creates a much bigger bang since the clutch disks acts like an automatic torque converter in a car. Also, why neutral is hard to fine.
