Default Cat in Mufflers ?

I was told today by a Long time Harley owner that the 09 Electra Glide had the Cats in the mufflers as opposed to in the head pipe. Is this accurate? I hope it is as I have had Samson slip ons replacing the OEM mufflers.

the 09 models with cats were the CA and Int'l models ( decode the vin and you'll know which you have 49 state or ca model..many ca models are sold outside of ca, usually in border dealerships..yuma AZ for instance)

the cat is IN THE HEADER...if you tap the front header with a pen from the head down it'll go

tink, tink, tink...clunk.

My understanding is that 09 was the first year of the cat, first year of the new frame, it has the 2-1-2 pipe on it. Took out a cat from my buddies 09, it is in the header where the 2 pipes come together.

I checked on other Forums and the majority of the posts say that only the CARB compliant 09's have Cats. Mine is not CARB compliant, Whew !
