Cam chain tensioner shoes
i know this has been covered,, but are there any warning sings as to when it gets close to needing changed??? noise,,oil pressure change,,or anything?? i looked at mine at 37k it now has 43k, at 37 they still looked good,,, also i saw a vidio here (or somewhere) that i cant find. it was of changing the shoes out and keeping the cams attached and pulled it all off as one piece,,anybody got a copy of that? just in case the bearing are still good,probally change them anyway but $$$ is tight ,,all stock what gasket do i need to get,,gonna go thru the top and pull the pushrods,(non adj. type) oil pump gasks, or orings?? does all the gasks. & orings needed come in one kit??

I changed mine to the new material, made by Cyco Gaskets. Only way to do it right is take out the cams.
I went with the adjustable pushrods; no sense in pulling the top off.
Put your ear to the cam chest, you may hear something, however, there's no telling when the old tensioners will come apart.

The Inner is the one that fails first from what I hear, once you are in there it seems that that changing them would make sense, and give you piece of mind! I went with gear drive so I will never ever have to wory about this issue ever again but mine is an 01 with the Timkin bearings so crank play is not an issue, also the drag that the chain/tentioner cause rob HP

I ran mine all the way to 72K. At 55K they looked fine, but when I decided to rebuild, the Inner shoe was cracked... Here are pics
