Looking for friendly advice, sell Fatboy Lo to get bagger????
#31
Thanks for the compliments on the bike, yeah it's a really tough choice, I just want to be in comfort whether I go down the store, or decide to ride to Vegas for an overnighter. Not married nor kids, however I still can't afford two bikes with full coverage insurance. I am currently going through some credit unions to see if I can get pre-approved for the new bike, because the last thing I want to do is finance it through Harley Financial. We will see how this pans out. Thanks for the input guys.

With ya .................................
Here is what my dumba$$ did. Bought the wife 2011 Fatboy LO. We added about 3K in mods. She loved it right up until I talked her into riding my '12 Roadglide. She loved the touring bike feel but also really did not want to part with the FB. Guess what I have now...........A 2013 Street Glide, 2012 Road Glide and the Fatboy Lo. My knee jerk advise would be keep the Fatboy LO and get the touring bike.................but her Fatboy has been ridden once since she got the SG.
Bye-Bye Fatboy and hello new touring bike................
Don't look back or feel bad. If you do just smile and remember there are much dumber guys than you...........Like me
Good Luck and Enjoy which ever one you end up with.

Sounds like the bagger is what would better suit your needs. If your GF wants to ride with you then I assume that would add to your enjoyment of the bike. The possibilities as far as luggage for a road trip or even just riding more because you can actually carry "stuff" with you is vastly greater with a bagger. Comfort is far superior also. The touring models handle surprisingly well despite their bulky appearance.
It sounds like keeping this bike and buying a bagger is not an option, so selling it or trading it in towards the bagger would be your only option. The bike needs to fit your lifestyle, not your life having to conform to the bike.
Any accessories or upgrades are generally money lost when trading or selling. You'd be lucky to recoup 50% of your customizing dollars over basic bluebook value. That's just how it is.
Let us know what you end up with and share some pics!

Depends on how or where you want to ride .I have had alot of Harleys but the last 4 have all been baggers .I think thats why the Road King has been and always will be a populer bike its kind of a tweener .that may be a solution for you . Put the apes on it and make it into a cruiser and then when you want to long haul start putting on all the detacthable stuff. I drive a Ultra LTD now and would never go back

Ok quick question for all you fellas, realistically and so I could dump this bike in a hurry, how much should I'd be asking. 2013 Fatboy lo with very low miles, over 10k in upgrades, have all my receipts. I know I wont get most of that money back. A new one is $17199, let's say I would sell it for 16000 plus half of my upgrades. Ask 23-24k OBO would that be feasable.
I have the following on it:
Heartland kit-2k
Carlini 14 inch apes and labor with cables-1k
Bassani exhaust, fuel moto A/C, Power Vision tuner-1k
Custom paint and pinstriping-1.7k
DNA wheels and tires-2k
Platinum bleed and feed air ride- 1.5k
Powdercoating engine and front end-1k
Freight train nacelle and HD daymaker-$800
Roland sands, levers, grips, side license holder $500
So as you can see that is a lot of stuff on it over 10k not including labor. Let me know what you think.

Yeah I know what you guys mean, I look at it and wish I could have two bikes, I appreciate all the comments and suggestions, its a hard choice and that's the pickle that I am in. I sold most of the stock parts already, so getting it back to stock is a no-go. I am going to roll the dice and see what happens, like I said worst comes the worst Ill hang on to it and I still have a great looking bike. Thanks again guys you are awesome!!!
Im not a real long distance tourer, but I go out for a after noon ride on a weekend and knock out 150-250 miles on my bike a couple weekends a month not counting to work R/T 130 miles so you need to be sure that you really want to put more riding time in and a touring bike is the right choice.

I know you said you sold a lot of the stock stuff. Id buy a set of take off shocks off ebay and swap out the Platium set up and any thing else you can swap out and sell it, but if your not doing your own labor it will cost you.
You could also look for someone in the So Cal area that wants to swap out some of your mods for their stock stuff and get back a lot of $ and save the other guy some $ before selling your bike

I would see if the dealer would just pay it off completely, and get a new Street Glide. I
think the dealer will still make out better, and will make a profit on both bikes. I also
think you will also learn a lesson about dropping a bunch of money into a new bike, and
not getting out there with your lady and put some wind in your face. JMOP

I just added up what you have spent in upgrades to build a really nice bike. For that kind of money you could have bought a nice used 2005 Ultra Glide. This is what i did kept the fatboy pretty much stock and took the money i would have spent and bought a dresser and with the leftover bought a cool older sport bike. 3 bikes for the price of one. There is no single bike that will do it all for me. Keep your bike or lose your ***. Shop around for a nice older glide, Many evos out there for $5k... good luck.
