Default Harmon Kardon Question

Guys,,

My stereo when sitting next to
another on the same station and
the same amount of volume bars
isn't as loud as my buddies. Both
are SG's. We made sure everything
was the same. I also note that
when traveling I can bump the
volume and it goes up for just
a second and then back down a
little, the AVC is at 4 bars. Anyonr
have this happen to them??

I have noticed that the radio in my RGU has a lot of static on stations in my area that my last bike picked just fine. I also noticed my buddy setting right next to me wasn't having the same problem. Not sure but I think there are some adjustments on the back of the radio to adjust the max volume and to fine tune the radio stations.

I was just going by what I was told, I really didn't know if there was or not.
But I do know this particular radio always has static on my local stations and my 2008 RG with the EXACT same setup (Stock) did not. So does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Have you pulled the fairing off to make sure the antenna is even plugged in? Even though its new, it could happen, maybe it was made on a Friday when they wanted to go have a beer, lol. If you dont feel comfortable doing this, take it back to the stealer, its new and under warranty, let them tell you "its normal" I hope you figure it out man.

It's not the antenna I have changed out BOTH antenna's with 4 different types (And I am not talking about cheap ones either),plus I have pulled the fairing off on more than one occasion, so I made sure to check the connection to the radio including the wire all the way back to the rear. Plus I just installed a Rockford Fosgate amp with two Focale speakers in the front, and none of that helped. But since I last checked the forum, I went out and checked the radio to make sure the software was up to date. It was, but while checking the head unit I noticed next to the soft keys, in this mode, something new on this radio that was NOT on the radio on my 2008, there is a Calibrate button, and a total reset to default settings button. First I reset to default settings, then I pulled the bike out in the open for no interference and I pushed to calibrate button, the radio went silent and the word calibrate lit up for about 10 seconds and after I reset all my preset stations, my local stations started coming in clear as a bell. FINALLY!!!!
I dis not have this option on my 2008 RG but either way, now this radio is as clear as my other one. Thanks for all the help and info on here guys.

That was going to be my original response but since you said you made sure they was identical, I figured you meant same exact settings bass, etc... Thats when I thought of the antenna suggestion. I am glad that you got if goin.. Stay safe.

Your best bet is to dump the HK at your first opportunity. An aftermarket head unit is going to perform much better.
