Im close to getting this 02 road king classic for 8 grand. I have read over and over that its a great year, that it has efi and electronic cruise control. Can someone elaborate on the crank strength and how its better than most other newer years?

My main problem is the ABS. I saw a few demos of it and was impressed and im hesitate to buy a HD, which is a big committment of $$ already, that doesnt have the abs. Is the 02 good enough to overlook the lack of it? Also, aside from 02, what are some good years that have abs? Thanks

 

i wouldnt let the no abs put you off. the 02 is a great model. i love how hard mine pulls with only stage 1. if its got low miles then jump it mate.

 

If the bike is nice I would not hesitate to buy it. My '02 RK with carb pulls like a team of wild mules. I still smile every time I wind the throttle and feel the torque up through the gears.

I love mine! Pretty sure you won't miss the lack of ABS. Seems like a good price also..

 

That's a good year, has the last of the forged cranks and the first year of the improved swing arm. Only weak link is the cam chain tensioners, replace with gear drive when you get a chance and you'll have a bike that will last for years.
