oil leak
I need some help.
I have a 2011 EG ultra classic. I have developed a very small leak with just 1-2 drops of oil on my garage floor. When I ride and put it away I see the spot the next morning. It is a little larger than a nickel on by garage floor. I have looked under bike and see just 1 drop hanging from a bolt that is just at the back of the area where the VIN number is stamped on the bottom of the engine. To the best that I can see or feel it is not wet anywhere else, not even above the bolt. I have tried tightening the bolt, but it appears to be tight. I am just over a month out of warranty and I dred taking it to the dealer if I don't have to. If anybody has any idea please let me know. I have checked the oil and transmission level and they seem to be ok.
any ideas?

the tranny end cover bolts often work loose- esp the 2 that mount the exhaust bracket.
these can be tightened without removing the exhaust by using the 1/4" bit from a screwdriver set. put the bit into the allen head, butt end first and turn with a wrench
the correct torque setting is 25 ft lbs. ( so 25 pounds of force applied to a 1 foot lever)- you can get a feel for this if you have a torque wrench--- tighten the easy to get to bolts, then use the bit and open end wrench to get a "feel" for how much force it takes to turn the bolt...then apply similar force to the hard to get at bolts
another source could be from the air cleaner, wipe around the outside of the housing with a paper towel- clean? oil? if oily you may do well to run the oil level about a pint low
there could be other sources-any fluid is going to work to the lowest part of the bike, and the wind blows it around as well.
if you really want to play detective, spraying the suspect area with drugstore foot powder will reveal the source of leaks or seeps

This. Btw any dealer worth their salt will take care of you within a month of the end of the warranty.

Plus 1 for EMSDOC - Mine was leaking from the bottom two bolts of the transmission side cover. the two that hold the exhaust bracket on. I ended taking an allen key and cutting the sort end down about half way to fit it in there. (Later took exhaust off and torqued it down better)
It's nerve wracking not knowing where that little bit is coming from. And googleing 'Harley oil leak' was fun. I even had a mechanic tell me "that's what they do, they leave there mark". Haven't been back to his hack shop since.

Well, swing by your service department and ask the, about it. If it's the exhaust mount bracket/tranny it's a very quick fix. The sort of thing either you can take care of yourself or the dealership should handle for you as a courtesy.

I think most/many of us have experienced this one, glad it's fixed.
