Default Fuel Tank Quick Disconnect

I have a 2007 RG. It has the quick disconnect on the bottom of the tank. After upgrading the stereo and running lines and etc, I put the tank back on and my quick disconnect won't reseat. I've tried putting new o-rings wth lube on the male side of the connector but when I put it back in I don't get that audible click and gas still seeps out.

Any suggestions other than buying a new fuel petcock from Harley (yes, i've read that from searching)? By the way anyone know a part number for that?

Take my advice with caution but if it were myyyy bike I would use some force and really push that thing on there and then jam that collar up until it clicks.

This method has worked several times for me

clean it ,one little piece of grit will make it leak and not seat.

You can get the correct part numbers by going to the parts section of Ronnies HD website, where you can look at microfiche of the parts book for your bike, courtesy of mtclassic's link.

Have you used the correct size of O ring? If not the slightest increase in diameter will make it difficult to get the two parts of the thing to seat. It is likely they are not mating fully, causing your leak.
