Vegas, go read your original qoute. You said including factory backed Harley and Buell teams. I think you are a genious to realize that most all other teams use Power Commanders. I never stated they didn't. The factory ECM's do not have the capabilities and that is why they use PC's. You are getting a little out of shape on this and are making remarks before reading what was posted.I only wonderedwhat factory backedHarley or Buell team you were refering to. Remember this is an open Forum.
i could not find Any pics but ill dig up teams, Buell road racers.... using them and their is a champion drag racer on an HD using a PC. Travis Lummus was or is sponsored by Dynojet as well.
That's very good again, but their is no FACTORYBACKED Harley or Buell team as YOU refered. Independent Harley/Buell teams can usewhat they want.Read thisagain because you are notgetting it. I think the Power Commander works OK, I prefer theSERT, in this OPEN forum. YOU cand use what you want, just like all the other guys you refernced can.
HI-JACKERS!!!!Vegas and gutman if youre going to hijack this thread to argue over who runs what in racing why not start a racing thread and continue on. LOL

SERT - is a RACE TUNER - If it don't void your warrenty neither will a pc111 - unless they can show the unit cause the damage your trying to get covered under the warrenty

SERT voids your warranty.
Nope it don't, a dealer can install it and map with several EPA compliant canned maps and its fine.
Now that same dealer can dyno and map it for best performance if he will (mine will, talked to them today) and in theroy it would ,but the dealer isn't going to tell moco if he did it, so no warranty problems.

Nope it does. The first line in the description of the 2007 Screamin Eagle catalog page 33 states " This race only software package" and has the cross flags posted. The definition for crossed flags states "performance parts identified with the crossed flags are intended for for racing applications only." If the dealer ever plugs your bike into the digital technician for anything and types in your VIN the MOCO knows your bike is "EFI TUNED."Epa map or not can constitutea red flag on your powertrain warranty only. The MOCO does not ask and the dealer does not tell but, big brother knows and can void if they want. The PCIII does not show up on this digital tech scan. Either is "constituted as tampering under the US EPA and may void limited vehivle warranty (powertrain)." If the MOCO ask to return the ECM for anything they can tell if PC has been conected.

A buddy of mine that works for the MoCo told me the PCIII will void your warranty. If you have it on your '07 they can tell by looking at the computer on the bike if a PCIII has ever been on it...I can see them avoiding any warranty repairs on engine problems because of the PCIII. [:@] Better go with the SERT to be safe.

Ride safe,
My dealer told me that if I installed the PCIII myself it is possible that I might have warranty issues with some dealers wherever I may happen to have problems along the way. But if I purchase it from them and have them install it, it would not affect my warranty. Also even if I came across another dealer that would not honor my warranty because of it being installed My dealer would cover the repair cost and deal with it on their end.

Jeff, you are exactly right. The decision to cover or not cover a part by the dealer can vary. Just keep in mind that the overall factor is who is paying for the claim. The MOCO ultimately decides whether they will pay a claim or deny. If denied the dealer will cover all costs'. Some dealers will not take that chance. The MOCO precisely spells out that this is not a coverd part, however they do not ask when the claim is submitted. If that info is requested the dealer must submit the truth. That could lead to a denied claim. Some dealers know how to work the system, and the MOCO knows this and will get you through it. Beware if on the road and a dealer starts making remarks. Take it elsewhere, one phone call is all it takes for a "red flag."

What capabilities does the SERT lack?

Just got a 07 st.glide put a Thunder maxwith auto tune on it also a Wimmer Big Sucker air intake with V& H slip on's.the T M, cost $829 msrp air intake $550 pipes $400 now U say the 08's will auto tune to any add on?? Had a problem ,sometimes it would rev to 25-3000 for no reason (not safe ) while trying to stop 4 a light. took it back to Wimmer Custom Cycle (who makes the Air intakes ) found the heat sensor wire was loose and every time I hit a bump it would give a false reading ,ie: engine cold -or hot therfore high revs back to normal ,he fixed it .But this is right out of the showroom ,so if I crashed and burned they would have said going to fast for conditions they dont check out bike crashes like airplane crashes so , what does any one think of the mods I did so far ?? this is my 1st. bagger and I love it also looking for tweeters to put in the spot where the air temp & oil ,dials are .any one have a link for speakers for the bike ? What does happen if the SERT decideds to crap 500 miles from home - you are SOL and out an ECM and SERT. I am monkeyin with a $300 independant part that can be unplugged and I still get home. I still feel I am the winner - just my opinion.
First of all the SERT wont take a crap because it is not an actual part added to the bike. It is only a link that allows you to access the ECM to make changes. Once these changes are made, the link gets put back on your garage shelf.

Secondly if you have a PCII and your ECM takes a crap you are Sh%t out of luck anyway cause that PCIII ain't doin nothin' without that ECM.

Keep in mind, if your ECM goes bad, I don't care what you have, your not gettin' home!
