Default Homemade Fuel Tank Quick Disconnect

Since I have the tank off, I want it to be easier to get the tank off next time without dousing my floor, towels and bike with gas. I know Herko makes a product, but has anyone made a homemade quick disconnect for the tanks. I'm sure the disconnect has to be a certain PSI rating... what is our fuel tank pressure...58 psi? I want to try and make a setup myself. Thanks in advance.

I know Motion pro make's a quick connect cross over line, check Ebay. I made my own as you see here, I can't remember where exactly I got the fitting but it was also on Ebay. Quality part and it sure does make removing the tank a snap

Your fuel tank itself is not under pressure.
You can prove that by taking the fuel cap off while its running, and it won't be under pressure.
For fuel injected bikes, the fuel pump is inside the tank and only from the pump to the fuel injectors is pressurized.

You should already have a quick disconnect on the fuel line coming from the tank.

If you have a crossover line to equalize the fuel level between sides, it does not need high pressure fittings since it isn't really under pressure.

i always thought throwing in a 3 way valve would be a nice feature...wouldn't really blend in though.

If you had some type of "T" you could attach another line to the bottom of it and open the valve for an easy way to drain the tank. I just pull the line an hope I don't spill too much

Thanks everyone for the replies. I'll be hitting a store for the fittings...

You can get fittings here http://www.coyote-gear.com/quickdisconnects.html
A search on the forum will give you a couple more.
