I finally upgraded my stock exhaust with some Vance & Hines*Chrome Round Twin Slash Slip-Ons. So happy. My qquestion is, do I have to get a tuner? Seems like no one can agry on this. There is a little back fire when I let off the throttle so I figured I better ask

 

If that is the only modification that you have completed then no. If you changed the air cleaner than yes. A tune would always clean up the bike a little but is not necessary!!!!

 

 

Alright thanks guys! I'll probably be doing head pipes and a breather before long so a tune is in the near future anyway. I just wanted to make sure I wasnt destroying my motor before I get that far.

 

Check that you got a good seal on the slip-ons... A little exhaust leak will cause that decel backfiring (assuming it started after you installed them)..

 

Had Hooker tunable mufflers on our '03 when we bought it, had to use silicone at the slip joint to get a good enough seal not to backfire on decal.
