Default ok to put synthetic in at first service?

I've heard not to put synthetic oil in at the 1000 mile service. And I've heard its ok to put synthetic in at 1000 miles. Is there a definative answer? If I'm not mistaken, don't cvo's come with synthetic in them?

Do it. But make sure it's the right synthetic.

Why would a service dept say they refuse to put synthetic in at 1000 miles?

D'Oh! Oil is oil, I just bought an FXWDG with 500 miles, not sure what the history was, so I changed the oil (Mobile 1 V-twin) and a Screaming Eagle filter ($15, probably not necessary vs an aftermarket filter), and I'm good until I get around to having the 2500 mile service done-after that, it's all me.....
