Mount it up high, so it is as close to vertical as reasonable. That should help reduce washout. Or only ride at night.....

grbrown is correct as usual. I have had a Zumo 660 for a couple years now and love it. It does get washed out by the sun but still can be seen better than non motorcycle units and covering the sun with a free hand allows it to be seen quite clearly. That being said I rarely have issues with being able to see the screen.

I helped a buddy install a Road Tech 665 on his Ultra a few days ago and he was content with the screen completely horizontal. That is until he took it for a ride. He said he could not see the screen very well. Told him he should have listened to me in the first place.

Before I had the Zumo I was running a Nuvi and tried a visor but it was pretty worthless and got lost pretty quick. Surely there are better designed visors but this having the Zumo with the motorcycle friendly features is worth it to me. Just being waterproof is in itself the best part.

I have a 450 and 550 with the inner fairing mount that puts the gps a lot higher and way easier to see. Sun has to be in just the wrong place to be a problem. Only problem is both those units are only available used anymore. The mount is not being made anymore either I think but can still be had.

I've had both a Tom Tom and Zumo on my bike. The only time I have a real issue seeing it is when the sun is directly at my back. I've never found it a real issue though. Especially as I wear a bluetooth receiver in my right ear and can hear her instructions just fine.

The first thing I do when I get a GPS, and yes, I have been through a few, is change the voice to a man. Have had enough of women trying to tell me what to do.

Wearing Polarized sunglasses makes it more difficult to see.

That's funny! I have so few women riding on my bike if I hear a woman's voice I seem to pay attention to it versus just tuning out men's. Probably a fight or flight response or something. ;-)

Rather than tilting the face up toward you, try tilting it down very slightly. This works for me.

Depends on the brand of glasses. I couldnt see screens with Oakley, but with my Maui Jim Sports I don't have a problem. Both are polorized.

Had a problem with glare on my Tom Tom so bad it was worthless. Bought a Garmin Nuvi for $120. There was no way I was paying the asking price for the Zumo, but still wanted something. First bright day, the Nuvi was a bit hard to read. Just turned up the screen brightness to 100% and was able to see it just fine. Not waterproof like the high dollar stuff, but it suits me fine.
