Reflash Vs. Power commander?

I would go with the PV or some other flash tuner as it doesn't have to stay on the bike and you can keep your O2's. The Xied's will work too. I ran the PCV for a couple of years and changed to the PV after it was debugged. You can have the PV mounted on the bike and setup to monitor gauge functions and when it pings you can look and see what the timing is where it is pinging or the VE and make a couple of quick changes on the PV under Quick Tune and reflash and away you go. If you remove 3 or 4 degrees of timing in pinging area and the bike starts surging in that area need to put timing back and richen it up 5 to 10% in that area. You don't have to hook it to PC or laptop. If yours doesn't have quick tune need to run the update client while it is hooked to computer.
Harley runs the timing in the light load area from 2750 to 3500 and 10 to 40% load at or above 40 degrees. Have had to cut the timing back to the 34 to 38 degrees in this area. The ping will go away. This is the one thing the Xied's can't do as they only richen the closed loop area and nothing to the timing. A rich mixture can handle more timing than a lean mixture.

Find a different shop. I had mine reflashed at the dealership for $150.00. And it was NOT a total waste of money. My bike is noticeably quicker, has better top end (easily hits 115 mph where before it struggled to hit 100 mph before), runs a bit cooler (isn't cutting off the rear cylinder at traffic lights as soon as it was before), and no longer has any decel pop. It was TOTALLY WORTH THE MONEY.
And the only mod, other than the flash, is V&H slip-ons. No other mods whatsoever.

I just looked at a stage 1 download for the late touring and compared to stock tune. The only fuel added with the stage 1 was in the 95% and 100% load area from 2000 to 6000 rpm range. They added 5 to 7% fuel. That is why yours ran faster evidently it needed more fuel. In the timing they add a couple of degrees off idle to about 1500 rpm's in the 15% to 60% range. They took 3 to 4 off in the 2000 rpm's to 2750 rpm's in the 40 to 70% load area which is cruise area light load. They also added 10 degrees from 3000 to 8000 in the 15% load area and 5 degrees same rpm in the 20% load area. Must help with engine braking or decel popping.
